    My book is on pre-order and I sold 37 books in 10 days as an unknown author, 12-14 of which were from ads.

    Many people don't sell well because they don't do research.

    1. Sell enough copies so Amazon markets for us. Amazon needs data for its algorithms, and selling to all your friends and family, at least at first, corrupts its data, or at the very least, dilutes it.
    2. Not marketing. Shouting on Twitter hasn't netted me many if any sales.
    3. Lack of editing (developmental and line editing, and proofreading), a good book cover (must be genre appropriate), etc.
    4. Lack of research or ability to write a blurb and ad copy (if you're not good you can do research – Brian Meeks writes such good blurbs even though I don't read the genres in his examples they even interest me!).
    5. Not willing to take creative risks and writing what everyone else writes, but also not writing to market.

    People have different strengths and weaknesses. Marketing is fun for me. Writing complex character is difficult and not as fun as writing fight scenes.

    My God. Alright: "Us Indie Authors" don`t have success selling our books at KDP Amazon because we have not "paid $$$ money" to Amazon so they can add us the "stars". After you pay Amazon to "advertise" your books, suddenly you receive a bunch of stars and comments who knows mysteriously from where or whom.

    Honestly, that is cheating.

    Hi Dale, thanks so much for this video. After watching it, I looked at my basic, boring free sample cover that Amazon offered and went "ohhhhhhhhh yeah that makes sense." I definitely need to get a cover designer, and I also think I need a different title to market my book better.

    My question is, do you (or do you know anyone) who can give a consultation or something to help me figure out what my cover should look like, and what title will help my book sell? I really would like to get this off the ground, but I don't want to make any decisions blind.

    My books can beat by miles any books in existence for cover design, titles and content but don't sell because nobody see them on Amazon. Amazon doesn't help in promotion and visibility.It's as simple as that,.visibility is everything. That is why I'm going to bypass the conventional market and create my own market place.

    Hi Dale, I'm an author and I've had mixed results selling children's books. Some have done really well but one individual book hasn't sold at all.

    I have made the interior much better so I think it could sell some now. In terms of the algorithm would you say I'm better off uploading a completely new book or just updating the existing one? It's been on about a month. Thank you πŸ™‚

    I recently published my first book called, (Arcadia: The God of Creation, and Destruction), and I've been having trouble making any sales. I think my problem is the keywords in my ads. If you could take a look at my page on Amazon.com, and give me your honest opinion that would be awesome. My friend read my book description and said it was great, but I can't really trust a close friend to be completely honest with me.

    i really do not think telling people to buy another book when you are trying to sell your own is really a gimmick, also authors should not lower their price or give away for free, if you feel you are worth it than do not lower your price, your a devaluing the author industry as a whole
