My key takeaways from this video are:

    1. When doing professional writing, think about your readers, not the rules

    2. Use writing to do your thinking
    3. Your writing needs to be VALUABLE, after then it should be persuasive, Organized, and clear
    4. Professional writing is about changing the ideas of the readers
    5. Rule of Western Academia
    6. Only explain inside of the value been generated and the persuasion having to be gone
    7. Work on VALUABLE papers; new, important, original is not going to do it
    8. Every community has a code; you must understand the code to succeed in that community
    9. Learn about your readers (e.g. editors, professors)
    10. Essays are about the writers
    11. Your function as a writer is to move the conversation forward
    12. Participate by changing other people's thoughts
    13. Problems should be identified in things the readers care about
    14. Show your reader instability imposes a cost on them or how the solution will benefit them
    15. Use the literature review to enrich the problem
    16. Background knowledge means building problem

    Thank you Larry!

I think this guy is really extreme and off base on some of his views. Of course there are some college students who write papers that are of value to the teacher…yes, papers that reveal something new, interesting, valuable, about life…about the world. To claim otherwise is ridiculous.

This guy would do a perfect badass actor:
Imagine him as a villain talking with this sort of rudely/sincerely way to a hero.
You can pic John Wick's movies, if you will.
    Or even Joker.

Thank you so much for uploading this lecture to Youtube. And thanks to “Codinfox” Buomsoo Kim for keeping the handout on his website!
